Maria’s Steak Cafe Bangsar
Honest Review on Maria’s Steak Cafe Bangsar
Miss Tawau went few days ago. This is my second visit to the same outlet. 1st experienced was good cos I went with their regular customers who wanted me to try out the steak here. Coming with regular customer vs coming with non-regular is different ya..just saying. The place suits the word Cafe, the dining area quite small, if the restaurant is full, will cause a disaster. Never experience that yet, each time I visit, only 40-55% occupancy. 8 months in the business here in Bangsar. It says cafe but the price almost the same like Hotel hmm..you judge it!
Started off with Paso Del Sol house red wine poured, Chile Chardonnay 2012 RM20/glass. Light and easy, enough to chill while waiting. Outside was drizzling, nice temperature at night. Back to Maria’s Steak Cafe Bangsar, service quite slow that night, with just 55% occupancy, we would expect they can handle the small crowd. Nothing to shout about the service, lot’s need to be improved. Thou the place is small, they can’t see us waving our hand or call ‘Hi, excuse me’ when we want to order, or need something else, Hello the staffs are just infront of us??? The worst when we asked for bill, they kept us waiting more than 15mins, I personally go to the cashier counter and tell that short hair lady AGAIN. Instead of apologising, she made that face which I dont appreciate at all. Sorry, just annoyed me when I think of it. I don’t have to go further on why the service was not up to our expectation.
I ordered Pumpkin soup as starter, heavy creamed, can taste butter, garlic and onion mixed in together. A basket of Garlic bread dipped to pumpkin soup..duhh-mazing. I love it. After Oxtail soup, pumpkin is my favourite, glad Maria’s Steak Cafe Bangsar have it in menu.

My friend ordered NZ Lamb Cutlet RM54 3 piece of cutlets, served with mint sauce, and said it was good. No comments cos I didn’t try it but from what I see, the Chef uses the same method cooking with my beef.
I’m here for their Medium Done 240gm Australian Wagyu Marble 7, (RM95/100gm). Cooked perfectly and tasted the same as my 1st visit, so good news for that 😀 I was told, they did not marinate their meat, they grilled as it is. But I dont believe, I think possible they use a secret sauce to cook with. Cos if you just grill without any sauce or marination It wont taste this good. I asked around especially Professional Chef if Meat can be cooked with Foie Gras Sauce, interestingly, they told me it has been done for centuries nothing new about it. Okay, so my conclusion is they use some kind of sauce maybe Foie Gras or maybe others. Cannot be just grilled without anything as the staff’s claimed. Anyway, this steak was remarkable 😀
They also serve Australian wagyu 5 @ RM80/gm and Australian Black Angus @ RM48/100gm. These special meat ought to be enjoyed w/o any accompanying sauce, ya this is true.
My second visit will not be the last, will come again for the food but not a fan with the lousy service. They should be thankful they have a good chef who can cook good steak. Or else, no reason to come. I don’t stay for the dessert I went to Eat Me Dessert Cafe @ Bangsar instead.
