On our last night in Osaka, we wanted it to be special so we plan to have a nice dinner before flying off the next day. We had tried THE BEST Kobe Beef and AWESOME Ohmi Beef so now the only Wagyu beef we have not tried is Matsusaka beef. Before coming to Japan, we have done some research where to go for dinner and Matsusaka beef in Osaka is one of the place we want to visit.

A little intro of Matsusaka Beef In Osaka
Matsusaka beef is black-haired wagyū. also known as Kuroge Washu or “Japanese Black”, the cattle come from the Matsusaka region of Mie, Japan. It is one of the most famous beef types within Japan and internationally, with a high fat-to-meat ratio. [Wikipedia]

After walking less than 10minutes from our hotel (Swissotel Nankai Osaka), we have reached to our destination. We were confuse at first and start walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. It was dark and full with boxes and when reach the top only we realized we need to take the elevator to the 2nd floor. Nice to know that they have Wi-fi. Finally 1 restaurant has a wi-fi. Apparently their not into wi-fi unlike Europe, everywhere in the city even rural area provide

Kindly use the elevator to the 2nd floor. We were greeted with smile they asked if we have reservation, we didnt and so lucky that they have available seat for us and we were seated next to Young Hongkies, I bet they also come to Japan for a holiday – I suddenly miss Kuala lumpur cause we too speak Cantonese just different accent with Hongkies. The server also inform us that we can only stay for 2 hours. I think that’s more than enough so we’re okay.

In Japan they always welcome you with hot/cold towel (oo..i forgot to take picture of it), anyway, if you visit Japan you will understand what i meant. The table seating is simple they gave us 3 type of dip for our Yakiniku Beef. They provide wasabi to add flavor. They also use the original frozen fat from the meat as the oil. They said this is a good fat better than the processed oil or butter.

In osaka, most of the restaurants have 2 menus, one Japanese & one in English. You can always ask for English. They also have ala-carte menu but what caught our eyes were this set-course.

After studying the menu, we decided to take Premium Course 7,800 ¥ (RM 244.80 / Euro 56.80 / USD 76.90 per person). You cannot get this price elsewhere, I am sure if we sell Matsusaka beef in Malaysia the price would be double or triple.

For our 1st course Grilled Matsusaka Medium Toro Kalbi Short Rib with Scallion & Salt, they add another grill plate so that the chopped scallion won’t fall off. Interesting flavor, the chopped scallion add fresh smell into the beef and when grilled together, create perfect combination.


On the left, taste like japanese cheese cake roled with vegetables, 2 pieces of beef cheek but taste and look like duck meat to us.

On the right is the beef sushi, my 1st ever beef sushi, tasted marvelous!

Now we can try the fresh Matsusaka Beef in Osaka. If you know Japanese maybe you can let me know what are those written in small paper? You can grill your beef in any way you wanted.

Yakiniku Style

This is Kalbi With Wasabi Sauce Over Rice, its like Unagi with rice but this tastes way better. If you come with partner, you can choose 1 of this and another one is cold noodle. At least you can try both.

Hello Beef Lovers

This cold noodle also taste amazing. After all your grill and rice. This cold noodle should be taken last like what we did. After the servers cleared our table, they sent us this cold noodles. Oh I miss it now. Last but not least, Japanese signature’s dessert Green Tea Ice cream, with red bean and Japanese cake. Was really happy to come here, hope one day we can come and visit again.

For drinks, you can order Japanese Sake, Soju, Asahi Beer etc. For men they will like Asahi beer. I like to drink hot green tea, I think most of the restaurant we went I ordered hot green tea. Less than 2 hour we finished our dinner and stroll along the Namba & Shinsaibashi shopping area and found this Osaka Castle design on the street.

I highly recommend you to come and experience one of the best beef in Japan, and it is ranked #2 of 7,544 Restaurants in Osaka. So no reason for not coming ;D
